Lecture for the 2009 Winter Meeting of the Transportation Research Board, Flagstaff, Arizona by David S. Clarke, DelDOT Archaeologist 2009 The Delaware Department of Transportation Archaeological Website has taken a methodological leap by providing the public and academic communities access to all their archaeological reports, along with a searchable database that allows the user to define the parameters of a search. This new database will permit archaeologists to sort through hundreds of reports, by a number of criteria, such as county, time period, and specific code words culled from the reports such as Mills, Bridges, or Archaic. The end result of this database is a more streamlined approach to doing research, along with being able to access gray literature that formally may have been avoided. |
