Q1. Which plate types are eligible for a centennial plate?
All numeric, vanity, PC, RV, C, CL, T, FT, RT, and D. However, Dealer plates are not sold online at the present time.
Q2. How much is a Centennial Plate? $100.00
Q3. Are there any other fees? No. The Centennial Plate is a $100 flat fee and no additional charges apply. Shipping is free.
Q4. How much will I be charged for shipping? There is no charge for shipping.
Q5. How long will it take to get my new centennial Plate? Please allow approximately 6 weeks for your order to process.
Q6. Where will my Centennial Plate be shipped? It will be shipped to the address on the Vehicle Registration Card unless the customer would like to pick up the plate at one of the DMV branch locations.
Q7. Can I specify a shipping address for my Centennial Plate? No. Centennial Plates purchased on the website will be shipped to the address listed on the Vehicle Registration Card. You may also pick up your new plate in person at a DMV branch office you designate at the time the plate is ordered.
Q8. Can I order a Centennial Plate if my registration has expired? No.
Q9. Who can purchase a Centennial Plate online? Any Delaware licensed driver with a vehicle registered in Delaware. Military personnel with a non-Delaware drivers license cannot place online orders at this time. Plates can also be purchased for close friends or family but if you are not listed as an owner of the vehicle, you will need the owner's drivers license number and vehicle registration card as this information is needed to submit an order.
Q10. How can I purchase a Centennial Plate? In person at any DMV Branch location, online, or by filling out an order form and mailing via USPS.
Q11. What information do I need to place an online order? You will need your drivers license and vehicle registration card to place an online order.
Q12. Can I buy a plate for my spouse, nephew, grandson, etc.? Yes. You will need their drivers license number, vehicle plate number, and title date on the vehicle registration card. The drivers license entered must be a registered owner of the vehicle.
Q13. If I sell my car, can I keep my Centennial Plate? When a vehicle is sold (transferred), the plate number goes with the vehicle. In the event you trade or sell your vehicle and wish to keep your Centennial Plate, you must appear at the DMV with the title prior to transferring the vehicle to retain your plate. Title fees will be charged. Please contact your nearest DMV facility for further information.
Q14. Can I order a Dealer tag online? Not at the present time. Please visit any DMV branch location.
Q15. Who is ineligible to purchase a centennial plate? Centennial Plates are not available for Motorcycles, mopeds, and IRP apportioned vehicles. Special plates such as alumni, handicapped, retired police, and other organizations cannot be displayed on the Centennial Plate. However, a Centennial Plate may be purchased for the regular plate number. Centennial Plates will not be sold online to anyone with outstanding fines and red light enforcement violations.
Q16. How long will Centennial Plates be available for sale? From October 1, 2008 through December 31, 2009.
