Bridges-Rehabilitation Award
Bridge 575 on North Market Street


Bridge 575 carrying North Market Street over the Brandywine River was a rehabilitation project involving a historic bridge in downtown Wilmington.

The project included:

  • Team approach at all phases
  • Appearance dramatically enhanced while preserving historical features
  • Unique work platform to protect waterway from debris and\ to allow coordinated utility repairs
  • An innovative design technique for removal of deck and rehab of the shear key due to 155’ cantilevered center span
  • Recipient of NCC Historic Preservation Award
