Outstanding Rehabilitaion Project for 2005 Br. 68 & Br. 2 on Rockland Rd over Brandywine Creek
Project Description
Br. 68 - Superstructure over Wilson Run was removed. Historic rubble masonry abutments were completely exposed and stregthened with new concrete at the back and then extended to match widening for new sidewalk cut off wall. Downstream rubble masonry wingwalls were replaced with stone faced concrete walls. Stone-faced parapets were built on a new concrete superstructure consisting of precase prestressed beams supporting a concrete deck.
Br. - 2 Cracked counterweight slabs were replaced. Strip seal expansion joint assembly at midspan was replaced. Deteriorated sections of concrete encasement of steel girders and diaphragms were replaced by pumping concrete mix into forms. Deteriorated concrete in walls and ceiling of overflow opening in the west abutment was removed and replaced. Mildew and peeling paint were removed from the parapets. Tops of the parapet were painted with anti-graffiti paint of matching color.
