This project was located along Route 273 (Frenchtown Road and Delaware Street) from the New Castle Farmers Market to near 10th Street in the City of New Castle.

Project Need

The Route 273 Multi-Use Trail Facility project proposed to construct a bicycle and pedestrian trail along Route 273 (Frenchtown Road and Delaware Street) from the New Castle Farmers Market to near 10th Street in the City of New Castle. The proposed improvements will connect to the existing New Castle Heritage Trail and the existing Industrial Track Trail.

Project Overview:

The design is a bicycle and pedestrian trail along Route 273 (Frenchtown Road and Delaware Street) from the New Castle Farmers Market to near 10th Street in the City of New Castle. A new ten-foot wide pedestrian and bicycle trail was constructed along the north side of Frenchtown Road (SR 273) from US 13 to Basin Road (SR 141)/Washington Street (SR 9). The existing sidewalk from east of Basin Road (SR 141)/Washington Street (SR 9) to the Industrial Track Greenway was widened to ten feet. The existing sidewalk from the Industrial Track Greenway to 8th Street was widened to ten feet. And an at-grade trail crossing for the Industrial Track Greenway trail crossing at Frenchtown Road (SR 273) was implemented.
