Press Release -- January 31, 2007

Deadline for Public Comment on Route 301 Alternatives is Saturday, Feb. 3

Dover -- Over 450 people attended the US 301 Combined Location-Design Public Hearings held on January 8 & 9, 2007 in Middletown. The purpose of the Workshops/Hearings which were held jointly by DelDOT, the Federal Highway Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was to present and obtain public input on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), particularly on the four retained alternatives including the recommended preferred alternative Green North + Spur Road.

While the Workshops/Hearings have ended, residents still have time to provide comments on any of the four remaining retained alternatives, including DelDOT's recommended preferred alternative. The deadline to comment on any information pertaining to the Workshops/Hearings is Saturday, February 3, 2007.

Public comments can be provided by:
* Visiting the US 301 Project Office in the Middletown Square Shopping Center at 723 North Broad Street. The Project Office is open on Thursdays between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM and Saturdays between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Please note that the 301 Project Office will permanently close at the conclusion of the comment period, which is Saturday, February 3, 2007.
* Visiting the project website at www.us301.org, where online comment forms are available.
* E-mailing comments to dot-public-relations@state.de.us
* Mailing comments to DelDOT Public Relations, Attn: US 301 Project Development, P.O. Box 778, Dover, DE 19903.

All comments received will be considered as DelDOT prepares a Final Environmental Impact Statement deciding on a Preferred Alternative, in the spring of 2007, for providing a limited access highway from the Maryland Line to SR 1 south of the C & D Canal.

"The public's input is a vital component to our decision-making process," said DelDOT Project Manager Mark Tudor. "Virtually every large project by DelDOT was changed or altered in some way in response to input from the public and resource agencies."
