Subject: Model of Blue Ball park and transportation improvements project available for public view at Concord Pike Public Library
Wilmington - A three-dimensional model detailing the new transportation and park design, known as the Blue Ball Properties Project, are available at the Concord Pike Public Library, 3406 Concord Pike, Wilmington. The Blue Ball Project is a combination of economic development, transportation and park improvements along the U.S. Route 202 corridor.
As part of this project, AstraZeneca, one of the world's top five pharmaceutical companies, plans to locate its North American headquarters on property adjacent to Concord Pike known as "the Triangle." Transportation improvements will be made to U.S. 202, Del. 141, Foulk Road, Rockland Road, Augustine Cut-Off and Murphy Road that will create a separated local and regional road system. In addition, 220-acres of open space will become new parkland, complete with hiking trails and a connection of the Northern Delaware Greenway from the City of Wilmington into Brandywine Hundred. Construction on this project is slated to begin next year.
Residents of the Brandywine Hundred community are encouraged to visit the Concord Pike Public Library to review the model and pick up the latest handouts. The Concord Pike Public Library is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 9pm, Saturday from 10am to 5pm, Sunday from 1pm to 9pm and is closed on Thursdays.
