TRAFFIC ALERT - Closure of I-95 Toll Lanes in Newark

Rehabilitation Work to Begin on Thursday, June 7

Newark -- DelDOT announces that pavement repairs and E-ZPass equipment upgrades will require the staggered closure of the 15 toll lanes at the I-95 Newark Plaza beginning Thursday, June 7. During this construction, a maximum of three toll lanes will be closed at night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. A maximum of two toll lanes will be closed during the day from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The first closure will be Lane 20 "wide load" from 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12. This work will include the following: removal of the existing concrete, installation of conduits, installation of treadle components, and the replacement of concrete.

Greggo & Ferrara, Inc. will perform concrete pavement work at a cost of $340,255.70. Byers Electrical Contractors will perform the E-ZPass upgrades at a cost of $110,891.50.

Work is anticipated to be complete in late August. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution when traveling through this area.
