Project Limits:
Statewide
Project Needs:
A Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) is a comprehensive transportation safety plan that provides a framework for reducing fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads. Federal transportation legislation requires states to develop, implement, and update a SHSP every five years. The state of Delaware is currently working on updating the 2021 – 2025 Delaware SHSP to meet the Federal transportation legislation requirements.
Project Overview:
The 2026 – 2030 Delaware Strategic Highway Safety Plan will provide the framework to continue to work towards the reduction of fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads within the state of Delaware. The new SHSP will implement the Safe System Approach and have an overall goal of eliminating fatalities and serious injuries on our transportation system. The plan will identify specific focus areas under the Safe System Approach and will identify strategies for how to achieve the overall goal. The plan is required to be completed by the end of 2025.
