Happy Bike Month DelDOT Bicyclists!! DelDOT will continue our annual celebration of Bike To Work Day with the City of Dover by having a Bike-In-Social to the Dover Public Library on Thursday May 16th. Groups will be leaving from the DelDOT bike shelter located in front of the South Entrance and from the parking lot of John W. Pitts Recreational Center at Schutte Park at 7:30 a.m. to the library with guest speakers starting at 8:00 a.m. Upholding tradition Free T-shirts, water and other goodies will be given away.

Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), Delaware State Police and Sussex Cyclists have scheduled bicycle safety checkpoints throughout the summer from June through August at various locations around Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. The DelDOT program provides bicycle safety information, trail maps, general bicycle repairs, lights and helmets.

DelDOT was awarded Silver status as being a Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists in September 2022.

Making intersections safe for both vehicles and people is a challenge for even the most motivated engineers. The memorial ghost bike for Lewes cyclist Jay Kirby has been reinstalled along Route 1 just feet from the scene of the crash that took his life.
