Legislative Bike to Dover
May 22, 2024 – rain or shine event
7:00 am – 1:00 pm
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Department of Transportation and Delaware Bicycle Council are proud to support the Legislative Bike to Dover! Senator Sokola sponsors this semi-formal ride with routes beginning from New Castle County and Sussex County, ending at Legislative Mall in Dover. The starting points for New Castle riders are at two locations: The Wilmington Riverfront at 7:00 a.m. (56-miles) or Middletown Square at 9:00 am (30-miles). Both groups from New Castle County will meet at the Smyrna Municipal Park at 10:00 a.m.
The starting point for Sussex riders is Milton Governors Walk at 7:45 a.m. (37-miles) and will meet with riders at Milford Square in front of Tractor Supply Company (24-miles) and Mike & Mel’s Family Restaurant in Camden-Wyoming (4-miles). There will be rest stops for both the New Castle and Sussex routes. Each group leader will try to accommodate joining riders as best as possible, but this is not guaranteed. Both groups will meet at Eden Hill at 11:30 a.m. to ride in unity for the last segment to Legislative Hall.
There will be no scheduled refreshment stops along the routes. However, if needing replenishment please visit one of the local convenience stores or restaurants.
All participants will receive a free Bike Month T-shirt.
Thanks go out to Senator Sokola, DelDOT, Sussex Cyclists, Delaware Bicycle Council the Biking Blue Hens, and all those involved for helping with this event.
